Shemeka Williams, Director
As the director and loving instructor she is AMI trained, in the art of guiding children with the Montessori method.
She is a mother of two very intelligent daughters and has over fifteen years of experience working with primary age and secondary age children.
In 2006, she accepted a full time teacher assistant position at a local high school in Okolona Mississippi where she cherished every moment with her students. She would also spend time assisting special education educators in the classroom environment and on field trips. She has also volunteered & worked first-hand at a local hospital in Flint MI with disabled pediatrics. Shemeka understands how important the first years of development are for young children, and want to help each child explore, learn and flourish at their own pace in a safe and fun environment. February 2023 Shemeka allowed God to lead her to bless the community of Tupelo, MS with a small but affectionate childcare center; Little Legends Academy where her love and compassion of this journey has been rooted. Her favorite thing about what she does is developing relationships with the children that she teaches and their families. She believes that small class size and the development of a strong community at an affordable cost allow her and her team to really know each child as an individual and to provide a solid and supportive foundation in the early years.

What is Montessori?
Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy’s first woman physician, developed innovative educational approaches based on the way children naturally master knowledge and skills. She discovered that children learn independently and at their own pace, and she created an ideal environment in which students choose among activities appropriate for their developmental level.
In 1907, Dr. Montessori opened her first casa dei bambini — or “children’s house” — in Rome, and the Montessori method of education was born. Today, children around the world learn in supportive, spirit-nurturing environments thanks to Dr. Montessori’s insights.
At LLMA our program is uniquely designed for each child individually featuring a beautiful home-like environment with mixed-age (3-6 years) classrooms encouraging all children to develop their personalities socially and intellectually at their own pace. Grace and Courtesy-often forgotten in traditional schooling- is a core concept in Montessori education.
