Joyce Harris, Owner
My name is Joyce Marguerite Harris. I am a 14 year Honorably discharged US Navy Veteran serving in both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Although I have spent most of my post military career in Civil Service. I have been in the childcare business for 20+ years in one capacity or another. I started tutoring young children as a 5th grader. I fell in love with teaching and working with young children quite early. I volunteered in the church after school program and then later went to work for the church’s daycare as the teacher for the 3-year-old group. From there I opened a 10-week Summer Camp for children ages 6 through 13. I have served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in the DC Family Court, Educational Therapy Assistant in the Washington DC Public School System and as a substitute teacher in various school districts as well as owned a Licensed Family Childcare Home in Charlotte, NC. I have also worked or the Boys and Girls Club and YMCA.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with emphasis in Sociology and Education. I have completed 24 units in Early Childhood Education and am currently working on my Masters in Chaplain Studies.

Research shows that young children learn best in a nurturing, child-initiated play-based environment that fosters self-confidence, trust, creativity, autonomy, decision making, social interaction and acceptance of individual differences values I believe in. My goal as a teacher is to provide children with a rich environment where they feel safe to explore, initiate learning, and feel free to express themselves. An environment where their daily experience gives them the sense of being deeply cared for and appreciated.
At our program, children step into a joyful world where imagination and self-expression flourish. We provide opportunities and expose children to a variety of creative forms of language, art expression, science, math, sensory, and building throughout the day using books, writing tools, print, songs, poems, stories, communication, language, and bible verses.

There are 3 Elementary schools within a 3 mile radius. Reeves, Quarles and Harper McCaughan being the closest 1.5 miles on Pineville Rd.
We are a 10 minute drive to the Beach off HWY 90 and and 5 miles from I-10.
We are within walking distance to Memorial Physician’s clinic and local ice-cream shop!
