She is also a certified Red Cross trainer for Adult and Pediatric First Aid, CPR and AED. Karen worked at Childgarden School and at the YWCA Headstart program as a lead teacher in the early 1990s. She was also a teacher aid in the Normandy School District. For 33 years, Karen has worked as a child welfare social service worker/supervisor, assisting countless children and families. Shifing gears now, she has a strong desire to offer exceptional learning experiences for preschoolers by offering a center of her own where little ones can learn and grow.

Philosophy

Discovery Place Child Development Center is born of a desire to offer exceptional learning experiences to families with preschoolers in the Saint Louis area. Our mission, “Preparing little minds for bright futures, one discovery at a time” summarizes the belief that the spirit of adventure, exploration and discovery are the foundations for future trailblazers. Our goal is to provide daily experiences for little ones to enjoy their “Aha” moments.

Location

Discovery Place is located in Overland, MO (mid St. Louis County) on a quiet street in a single family home. We are minutes from St. Charles Rock Road and I-170 with access to bus lines and highways, Parkview branch library and local parks.
