Christy Ratliff - Sunny Smiles Childcare Owner/Director- I have been licensed since June 2008 but have been running a childcare business since January 2001. I am married to Jeff and we have 2 children and 1 grandchild. I have my CDA, am CPR/First Aid certified and take at least 20 hours of childcare training yearly to stay up to date on rules and guidelines for child care. I have a dog that stays in a kennel in our room throughout the day and a cat that loves the children and all the attention. Both stay current annually on their vaccinations and take monthly flea and tick medication.
Neveah Schoup - Assistant Childcare Provider - Neveah started working through the work based program at CN schools August 2024. She graduated and is attending Ivy Tech online to gain her Early Childhood Education Degree! Neveah works M-F from 9-3 and will continue doing so until she has her degree and is ready for the next chapter in her life!

Our childcare center’s philosophy centers around providing positive learning experiences and ensuring that every child’s needs are met. We prioritize patience, respect, and care for both children and adults in our care. Additionally, we are committed to inclusivity and do not discriminate based on race, color, gender, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability. We welcome children with special needs and make reasonable accommodations to support their success within our program.
At Sunny Smiles Childcare, we believe that children thrive in an inclusive group setting. We assess whether our center is the right fit for your child after a meet and greet session. We follow Carol’s Affordable Curriculum, offering monthly activities for children aged 3-5, as well as daily group activities for all kids in our care. Our daily schedule from September to May includes age-appropriate activities, outdoor play, stories, and educational tasks. We provide a nurturing environment where children receive love, patience, and guidance in a familial setting.
Our daycare’s daily routine includes free play, breakfast, group and preschool activities, lunch, outdoor play, naptime, and snack time, with flexibility to cater to each child’s needs and the day’s requirements. Free play is valued as essential for children’s social skill development, alongside structured activities. Our goal is to provide a holistic and supportive environment for children to grow and learn.
Ubicación
Sunny Smiles Childcare is located in the West Noble School District. We are in the country but located off US HWY 6 just a mile. Kendallville, Albion, Ligonier and Romecity are all within a 15 minute drive from us.
