Our Teachers

Almira Wheatley – Lead Teacher

Before founding the Montessori Science Academy, Almira spent five years working in a Montessori environment.  She received her Lead Teacher Montessori Certification from KHT Montessori in 2012. Almira has also received certification from the United Montessori Schools of Indiana.  As a naturalized U.S. Citizen, she brings the experience of a diverse background and believes all children can reach their potential given the right environment.  Her passion for Montessori and her love of children has allowed her to become a highly sought-after educator.

Brian Wheatley – Director

Brian was first exposed to Montessori when he was 4 years old.  He received his Bachelors Degree from Ball State University where he studied Physics, Education, and Military Science.  Upon graduating he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army.  After a 12-year, decorated career, Brian and Almira decided to open the Montessori Science Academy to give their children and those within the community the head start in education that he attributes to his success.

Philosophy

The Montessori Science Academy follows the Montessori educational principles of providing child-directed, individualized, hands-on learning within a prepared environment with special emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The school seeks to educate the social, intellectual, and emotional needs of each child; and to generate a sense of community among children, teachers, and families.
