Jshanien M., Director

Mrs. Jshanien graduated with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Ivy Tech Community College in 2019. She later received her Business Administration degree in 2024 from her alma Mater. When Mrs. Jshanien is not in the office, she is still in the classrooms, on the floor, playing and learning with the children. She along with the staff, immerse themselves with learning all they can and making the necessary adjustments to accommodate our young scholars. By creating an open-door and open communication policy with the families, she embodies the true persona of being there for her children and their families. Mrs. Jshanien has worked in the field for over 15 years and keeps coming back daily for those little hugs and smiles.

Derrick K., Teacher

Mr. Derrick recently obtained his CDA (child development credential) in 2024. He has worked in childcare for almost 8 years. Whenever the children see Mr. Derrick, it’s full-on energy mode! He brings the excitement with his breakdance style moves, acrobatic abilities, and physical fitness enthusiasm.

Teresa A., Cook/Support Staff

Ms. Teresa understands that children love an appetizing, well-balanced meal. Following the regulations set by the CACFP, she makes sure all children are fed the proper serving sizes during each meal service period. On more than one occasion, seconds and even thirds are asked for by the children! Ms. Teresa, decided to further her education and involvement with the children by receiving her CDA through the TEACH Scholarship program offered in Indiana in 2023.

Kimberly L., Assistant Teacher Miss Kim has been employed with the facility since 2023. She has worked with various of ages of children from infants to school aged children. She is currently an assistant in the preschool room. She brings the brightness and fun with her colorful hair that children adore when she comes into work!

Terence & Tonca W., Owners

Mr. Watters, an army veteran, and Mrs. Watters, the spinning wheel behind the business, have continued to keep the center doors open for more than 25 years. They have led the way for their employees in showing them the dedication they have for this field.

Filosofía

Our philosophy of education at K.A.T.T. 2.0 is to provide a well-balanced curriculum integrating health, nutrition, creative expression, social-emotional, and cognitive skills in a safe environment. Play is an essential part of learning incorporating experiences that stimulate the mind and body. Hands-on activities are provided daily to enhance experience through visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic learning styles. These positive play experiences not only prepare them for their future education but also build a solid foundation for their self-worth, giving them insight into their value and uniqueness as a person.

“Our work with children should always incorporate both basic child development knowledge and sensitivity to individual and changing children’s needs. Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) programs are those that are planned and implemented on the basis of a basic knowledge of how children grow and what they can do, as well as what teachers learn over a period of time about individual children as they work with them. Children develop at their own pace, and they bring to every learning experience individual personality, learning styles, family backgrounds, and family values. Teachers should be able to use the sequences of a child’s growth and development to individualize their daily planning for children. Additionally, play is a primary vehicle for growth and fu1iher development because play helps children to progress from a sensorimotor stage of development as infants, to the stage of preoperational thought when they are preschoolers.” (A Practical Guide to Early Planning, Methods, and Materials - Peterson, 1996)

“Child initiated, child-directed, teacher-suppo11ed play is an essential ingredient of developmentally appropriate practices.” (A Practical Guide to Early Planning, Methods, and Materials - Bredekamp, 1992)
