Our Teachers

Our lead teachers are required to hold a CDA or an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, and we encourage all support staff to pursue their CDA as well. Every staff member completes at least 20 hours of professional training each year to stay current with best practices in childcare and education. Many of our team members are seasoned professionals who have been with us for over three years, bringing experience, dedication, and a true love for working with children to our program.

Philosophy

Our curriculum is a blend of child and teacher-initiated activities that are based on the Indiana Preschool Indiana Foundation and The Creative Curriculum. We also utilize Zoo Phonics, a systematic approach to teaching Phonemic Awareness, as well as the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum. Activities are suited to children’s ages and abilities. They also address the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and creative areas of development and follow guidelines outlined in state regulations.

Our Goal: To work together as a team to provide high-quality childcare, preschool, and school-age programs in a nurturing environment that is safe and secure.

Location

Our program is located in the heart of Holland, Indiana—a small, friendly community with a quiet, family-oriented atmosphere. We’re part of the Southwest Dubois School District, and school buses conveniently pick up and drop off our school-age children right at our location for both Holland Elementary and Huntingburg schools. We’re just a short distance from Holland Park, a wonderful spot for outdoor play and community events. The surrounding neighborhood is peaceful and safe, making it an ideal place for children to learn, grow, and explore. Our convenient location and close ties to local schools and the community make HUMmingbird Daycare a great choice for families in the Holland area.
