Established in 1990, we are a registered ministry of Woodmar United Methodist Church. Community Preschool and Childcare is nationally accredited through the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Our high-quality, Level 4 Paths to Quality program serves the children and families of Hammond, Highland, Munster, Schererville, East Chicago, and throughout NWI. We are certified with the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF) and are an On My Way Pre-K Provider.

Our church daycare program is committed to allowing each child to explore, experience and discover, in a safe, engaging and loving environment appropriate for their developing needs.

We look forward to building relationships with the families we serve. We will provide opportunities for families to interact with other families, community resources, professional resources and spiritual resources. We hope to partner with families as part of an ongoing reciprocal relationship to support the healthy development of each child.

Community Preschool and Childcare adheres to a developmental approach in curriculum planning. The developmental approach is used to set up a stimulating environment that promotes learning on an individual basis, as well as establishing a group atmosphere that will facilitate the use of your child’s present and potential abilities. Opportunities are provided to expand knowledge through exploration, investigation, assimilation, and reflection.

Community Preschool and Childcare is an affordable, welcoming, and exciting program for children ages 3 -5 years. Providing you a top preschool and daycare programs, we are NAEYC accredited and an Indiana Level 4 Paths to Quality provider. Our program is Family & Social Services Administration (FSSA) certified to accept Indiana child care vouchers and On My Way Pre-K applications. We serve Northwest Indiana and surrounding areas.

Our well-established program has been enriching children’s lives since 1990. Each child quickly begins to thrive by developing skills in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Cognitive, Social-Emotional, Physical, and Self-Care. A stimulating environment with excellent teaching helps to facilitate your child’s skills. Our degreed teachers follow Creative Curriculum® and post their daily lesson plans, which are aligned with Indiana’s Early Learning Foundations.

Positive parent-teacher relationships are valued and enhanced by daily communication, monthly newsletters, opportunities to participate in class, and annual conferences. Conferences are scheduled to discuss each child’s progress with an informal developmental assessment called ISTAR-KR (Kindergarten Readiness) which is aligned to the Indiana Academic Standards.

Our secured education wing of Woodmar United Methodist Church is monitored 24 hours/day with a video monitoring system. The safety and security of children and staff are our top priority.
