Philosophy
The Children’s Cottage Academy strives to be a second family for all the children in our care. We believe that children learn through active engagement with each other, their teachers and the world around them. Children need hands on activities that allow them to explore, create and problem solve in a safe space inspired by the interests of the children.
About our program
Our program is play-based with a nature focus. The center includes a full gym and indoor swimming pool for indoor physical activity but also sits on 12 acres of land with many opportunities to enjoy all aspects of nature. The children feed the birds and squirrels each day as well as fill the deer feeders. Children learn the seasons as we plant and harvest pumpkins as well as discover the habitat of all the creatures that live in the various trees. Children learn the concepts of math and science during their nature walks and carry their ideas with them into the classroom to develop their creative minds with activities in art, literacy, engineering and self help skills.
