Hope Kern (head caregiver and teacher)
Hope started this journey in the hopes of providing a safe place for parents to bring their children, as well as to stay at home with her own children. When she had her first son she was terrified to think about daycares and all the what ifs, daycares in the news about abuse and deaths, so she opened her own right in the comfort of her own home! Her favorite thing about what she does is developing relationships with the children she teaches. At safe steps, Hope prioritizes early education, offering the good and the beautiful preschool homeschool curriculum each day in hopes all kids would like to participate, but learning is never forced. Hope prioritizes play based/nature based activities, with her very own farm and garden available to children. Children get the chance to interact with many different animals, plant foods for a hand to table experience. Hope thinks teaching good habits is also very important, like good hygiene, cooking skills, cleanup time, respecting our friends, sharing etc! She believes small groups and specialized care allow her to really know each child as an individual and to provide a solid and supportive foundation in the early years. Certified in basic first aid, child infant cpr & aed! Thank you for considering safe steps.
