Our Teachers

Owner, Miss Amy, has worked in the field for over 20 years and holds her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. Director, Miss Trae, has worked in the field for over 10 years and holds her Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Administration. Many of our teachers have been with Hooligan’s for 5 or more years and have either completed or are working towards completing their degree or certificate in Early Childhood Education.

Philosophy

We believe that self-esteem is a critical component to optimal growth for your child. For a child to develop high self-esteem, we focus on developing the socialization and self-help skills needed to succeed in other areas of development. We believe that all children should be provided a nurturing, active, and challenging environment that encourages curiosity, active learning, values, problem solving, language development, and a positive self-image. To meet these goals, the teaching staff supports a hands-on environment by implementing specific learning centers throughout the classroom including blocks, creative arts, sensory/science, library, dramatic play, and manipulatives. The children are provided with a wide variety of materials at each center: Legos, puzzles, puppets, cooking equipment, crayons, markers, stickers, paper, glue, paint, dolls, dress up clothes, play food, dishes, magnifying glasses, prisms, plants, animals, books, tapes, scissors, and math manipulatives. To develop the curriculum, our program uses the following resources: Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards for Young children from Birth to Age 5 and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The information gathered from these resources forms the major strands of our developmentally appropriate program: teaching strategies, social/emotional development, fine and gross motor development, assessment of children and parent-teacher relationships. We have designed our preschool curriculum to align with state standards and provide preschool students with a head start on their academic careers and development.

Location

Hooligan’s is located right off Scatterfield, making it an easy to find and convenient location. We are a short distance from 10th Street Elementary School and Liberty Christian Elementary. Bus transportation is provided through ACS to and from 10th Street Elementary and Anderson Intermediate Schools.

About our program

Hooligan’s is a Christian based preschool and child care program. At Hooligan’s we take a hands-on approach to learning by assisting the children in learning through play. We are a level 3 Paths to Quality program. Each classroom offers a variety of learning centers with toys and materials in each center to engage children in developmentally appropriate play and learning experiences. Each classroom also follows lesson plans that follow a provided curriculum.
