Hi! I’m Makenna, the founder of Cozy Cottage Childcare. My joy for caring for kids has inspired me to start my own program and provide access to a positive learning experience for kids in my community. With a Bachelors degree in Exercise Science & Health Promotion, as well as a Bachelors in Business Management, I have spent the past 10 years working in high education settings as a mentor, academic tutor, children’s summer camp counselor, athletic coach, and executive assistant. I have always held a place in my heart for working with children, especially in small group settings. Through my various experience in child care, I have 8+ years of working with children, have taken child development classes, and continue working on related certifications. I look forward to making a positive impact on the individuals in my community!

Cozy Cottage Childcare is an in-home childcare program that aims to provide a safe atmosphere for children to learn and grow through free play, peer interactions, group, and individual instruction. We believe each child is unique and it is important for children to have access to the appropriate tools and environment to thrive in. This program is designed to support children as they learn new skills and develop at their own pace. We aim to provide a happy, fun, inclusive, and loving experience through activities aimed to practice social, cognitive, emotional, motor, and creative growth. We are here to support goals you have for your child to support their specific needs and increase their strengths.

Cozy Cottage Childcare is located in Northglenn near several neighborhood parks and an elementary school 1 block away. We are conveniently located close to I25 for easy highway access. We have a wonderful backyard space in a very family friendly neighborhood. We plan to take trips to local parks and eventually the library once we get settled in.

At Cozy Cottage Childcare, our goal is to provide a comfortable, happy, and fun space to explore and learn in. This program follows a play-based philosophy with some engagement in nature and early education. It is designed for each child to learn, explore, and grow at their own pace. We provide various constructed activities to practice basic concepts, social, emotional, motor, and reading skills. We focus on fostering kind interaction with peers and others, and encourage each child’s overall independence. Daily activities: Free play inside and outside, open-ended arts and crafts, group circle time, reading time, snack, and nap. Weekly activities: Instructed arts and craft, sensory activity, gross motor activity, fine motor activity, music and movement, nature activity. Additionally, we provide: Supervised outings to the neighborhood park/playground Extended care options Flexible hours Infant care Naps

Rhythm of the Day 7:30 - 8:30 Arrival and morning play 8:30 - 9:00 Potty, Wash and Breakfast 9:00 - 9:30 Circle time (sing along, sharing, calendar, reading aloud) 10:00 Table activity (worksheets, shapes, colors, letters, numbers practice) 10:30 Free Play outside on property / outing to the park & morning snack 11:30 Potty and Wash 11:45 Lunch 12:15 Arts and Crafts / Play doh / dot markers / imaginary play/ centers 12:45 Read aloud, read to self, calming activity 1-3 Nap 3:00 Wake up and Potty Break 3:15 Afternoon Snack 3:20 Music and movement / sensory activity / centers 4:00 Free Play (outside or inside) 4:45 - 5:30 Prepare for pickup We plan to take trips to the neighborhood park once getting settled in!
