Our Teachers
My name is Diana Urquijo—wife, mother of two, physical therapist and nurse by profession, and an artist and educator by passion and vocation.
For the past four years, I have dedicated myself to caring for and educating children in a home-based setting. This experience has strengthened my belief in the importance of nurturing the whole child: their emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development.
My greatest passion is creating a space where children feel valued, safe, and inspired to explore the world around them. I believe that every child deserves an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, independence, and joyful learning.
With my background in healthcare and my deep love for early childhood education, I bring a balanced approach that prioritizes both safety and meaningful, developmentally appropriate experiences. At Explorerland, my goal is to guide each child with care, respect, and intention—supporting them as they grow and discover their potential.
Philosophy
Our main educational approach at Explorerland is Reggio Emilia. This approach is flexible and not a rigid method; rather, it is a way of understanding each child and their individual learning process. It is rooted in the belief that children learn best when they explore, investigate, and discover on their own, within an environment that encourages them to observe, touch, create, and reflect.
We apply this philosophy every day by providing organized spaces with abundant natural light and thoughtfully designed learning areas—such as exploration, reading, music, and art—that nurture each child’s natural curiosity. Through hands-on experiences, meaningful interactions, and creative expression, children are supported in developing independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
