Pwofesè nou yo

My names Hermelinda, and with almost two decades of experience in early child care I am proud to run my program, First Steps Play and Learn. My favorite time of day is music and movement, because I get excited to see children laughing and enjoying their time here. I participate in the Santa Clara County Quality Counts Program and have taken many classes, earning 37 units in ECE at local colleges.

Filozofi

At First Steps Play and Learn Wonderschool, our low child-to-teacher ratio allows us to remain focused and supportive of your child throughout their day spent with us. As children select different activities, we communicate with them about their interests and develop their sense of self by encouraging them to continue making choices about what they’re playing with and how they’ll use it. Our goal is to ensure that your child is prepared for school and life by helping them grow socially and academically.

Kote

Tucked into a cozy neighborhood in South San Jose, our program uses our sunroom and fenced-in backyard for all of our daily activities. We are located right off of Capitol or Monterey and are only a short drive from both the 87 and 101.

Konsènan pwogram nou an

Children’s choices help us to help them. When we see a child start to engage with materials, we begin a conversation with them about what they’re doing and how they perceive the world around them. This gives each child a lot of opportunity to develop Spanish ability.

Our environment is set up to help kids keep learning. Whether it is the song we choose for circle time or the materials that we put in the dramatic play area, we allow the children to navigate our space and pick what they’ll do.

We think that childcare is the foundation of your child’s school journey. What happens here is connected to where kids will go in elementary school and beyond. We make sure they have the foundational skills kids needed for success!
