A warm welcome to our page! My name is Lauren, the founder and director of Over the Rainbow. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can truly blossom and grow on a daily basis. Prior to opening my own space, I was an early Elementary school teacher. I have my full Teaching Credential in two states (California and Arizona) and a Masters Degree in Education. I also have two amazing kids of my own. My daughter Sophie is in Kindergarten and my son Sebastien is part of the classroom at Over The Rainbow.

Our lead teacher, Leah is a veteran teacher and is exemplar in the art and profession of teaching. She holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and has formal training from a Master Montessori teacher. The children absolutely adore her and her approach to care taking and education. She has a very warm and loving heart which the children can see and feel. Formally, Leah owned and operated Aspire Academy in Rock Hill, South Carolina, a thriving, successful and reputable preschool and Summer Camp program. She is the perfect addition to Over The Rainbow!

Our 11- month old is encouraged to move freely around the room to play and explore. The place is neat and clean with lots of books, creative toys and a huge backyard where children can play. At Over the Rainbow Los Altos, we believe that providing loving, attentive and educational care in first 5 years of a child’s life is the stepping stone for a bright & happy future.  By providing high-quality childcare in an intimate and family-oriented center, we form a bond with each child in our care.  We truly love helping them develop a lifelong love of learning & curiosity about the world around them.  By nurturing their social, emotional, educational, and developmental needs, your child is sure to thrive and succeed at Over The Rainbow.

Over the Rainbow is located in a warm, welcoming single family home in the Los Altos Foothills neighborhood.

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Over the Rainbow, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

Our Program

Our program presents learning concepts through hands-on exploration of the world around us; introducing academic and social concepts within a non-competitive and positive environment.  We have the perfect balance of Montessori Inspired and independent free play activities where your child’s emotional needs, education, and happiness come first. Life skills (zipping, buttoning, tidying up and learning to feed themselves), arts & crafts, seasonal/holiday themes, music & movement, drama/storytelling, math concepts/counting, language, and vocabulary are some of the varied concepts we teach.  

*A balance of nurturing, playtime, and learning each day

*Daily small group activities that help boost your child’s social skills

*Family communication, including daily updates through an app called BrightWheel to keep you informed

*Learning areas focused on dramatic play, practical life skills, mathematics, creative arts, language, and sensory exploration (water, clay, paints, sand etc) 

*Age-appropriate activities and materials that develop confidence, self-esteem, and a love of learning

Our Teachers

Our teachers have Masters Degrees in Education and also a lot of hands-on practical life experience teaching in the classrooms.  We have a low ratio of children to teachers to ensure the best quality care possible.  By providing a perfect balance of structure and play, your child will thrive and grow. 

Healthy/Well Balanced Meals 

We provide mostly organic meals and everything is homemade and delicious. We believe that healthy food & good nutrition fuels your child’s busy day. All of the food is provided in the monthly cost.  We prepare meals using fresh & healthy ingredients with your child’s well-being in mind.  I will encourage your son/daughter to try a variety of fruits and vegetables and we use seasonal, organic (when possible) and locally sourced ingredients as much as we can.  Filtered purified water is served with every meal and throughout the day.

Examples of healthy meals prepared:  

*Wild-caught Alaskan Fish, seasonal vegetables, rice pilaf

*Grilled shrimp and chicken with a side of rice pilaf and seasonal vegetables

*Shredded chicken slow-cooked chicken, avocado, apple slices 

* Homemade meatballs with tomato sauce and whole-wheat pasta topped with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese

*Tofu with stir-fry vegetables and rice 

*Eggplant Parmesan with whole wheat pasta and a side of vegetables

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
