The journey into early childhood education began quite unexpectedly. With a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Tommy initially embarked on a career in the banking sector. He spent several years working in a bank, managing financial portfolios and helping clients achieve their financial goals. However, a casual conversation with his wife sparked his interest in exploring deeper into the field of Early Education.
Driven by this newfound passion, Tommy decided to pivot his career. He proceeded to earn a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from San Francisco State University. Over the next five years, Tommy honed his skills and gained invaluable experience working in reputable schools, where he witnessed firsthand the profound impact that quality early education can have on a child’s development.
Philosophy
Dolphin Stars Childcare has five core philosophies to guide our school forward: environment, uniqueness, social, emotional, and care.
-
We, the Dolphin Stars Childcare, believe creating a Mandarin immersion play-based environment will help to plant a language seed in the children’s language planter box to enhance their ability to future their language skills. Not only the child will learn to speak in Mandarin, but they can also comprehend and value the importance of different languages. Furthermore, we believe creating a play-based environment helps children enhance their creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on experience with different tools and toys.
-
We, the Dolphin Stars Childcare, view each child as a unique citizen of our world. Each child has their own pace of learning, as the teacher helps to create, nurture, guide, and acknowledge the progress along the way.
-
We, the Dolphin Stars Childcare, believe social interaction between parents/caregivers, teachers, peers, and the environment are crucial pieces that build up their confidence and interaction skills. Children will learn to make new friends, play together in group settings, and show respect towards parents/caregivers, teachers, peers, and the environment.
-
We, the Dolphin Stars Childcare, believe emotional support is critical to support children’s growth. Allowing children to express their emotions, and embrace the moment to teach about different emotions will help them cope with their emotional needs.
-
We, the Dolphin Stars Childcare, believe providing quality care to children is a right for the children.
