Q: Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and the program you started?
Christina: My name is Christina, and I run a home daycare. I always wanted to work from home. Now I finally have the chance, and I love it.

Q: What is the size of your program, and what ages do you serve? What is the philosophy behind it?
Christina: I take children from as young as three weeks to six years old. My program is play-based. Right now, I have two two-year-olds, and next month, a three-month-old baby will join us.

Q: How long did it take you to get licensed to start accepting children?
Christina: The process took at least a year. I think it was longer for me because I have a well, which required additional inspections. It was a lot of work, but I’m so happy it’s done—I love what I do now.

Q: What about Wonderschool was helpful for you, and how did you find out about them?
Christina: I received an email from Wonderschool and decided to respond. From there, I got a lot of help. They assisted me with website advertising, setting up billing, and the app, which has been incredibly useful.

Q: How did families find your program?
Christina: Families found me through a link to my website on Wonderschool. They clicked the link, saw my website, and sent inquiries to enroll their children.

Q: Are families paying out of pocket or using a subsidy system?
Christina: So far, all payments have been out of pocket.

Q: What led you to care for infants rather than starting with older children?
Christina: My youngest child is now 15, and I missed the younger years. That’s what inspired me to take in infants—I really enjoy working with them.

Q: Are you happy with your earnings as a childcare provider compared to your previous role?
Christina: Yes, I am. Even if a child is sick and doesn’t attend, I still get paid since parents pay for their spot. Once I have four children enrolled, I’ll be earning what I made in my previous job.

Q: What do you enjoy most about running your daycare?
Christina: I love spending time with the kids and doing activities together. For example, we make slime and have so much fun with it. Seeing the kids excited, happy, and dancing around is heartwarming—they’re just so cute and innocent.

Q: Have you received more interest and tours for your program?
Christina: Yes, I’ve been getting more interest and tours, which is really encouraging.

Q: What is your long-term goal for your daycare?
Christina: My goal is to have six children in the program. That would be ideal—it would allow me to make extra income and take vacations, which is something I’m looking forward to.

Q: What has your community said about your business?
Christina: My friends and family are really proud of me. They’ve mentioned how much the community needs daycare, and I’ve even had people tagging me in posts about childcare needs. It feels great to have their support.

Q: How has Wonderschool’s app helped you manage your daycare?
Christina: The app is wonderful. It saves me time and money because I don’t have to manually track billing—it’s all automated. I really appreciate that feature.

Q: Do you enjoy this work more than your previous job?
Christina: Absolutely. I really do. It’s so fulfilling to spend time with the kids and create a fun, nurturing environment for them.
