Our Teachers

KeenKind is founded and led by an educational professional with over 15 years of experience in child development and family education, supported by advanced professional training in integrative child and family psychology.

Our team brings over 35 years of combined experience in early childhood education. Lead Teachers hold university degrees in pedagogy and psychology, providing a strong academic foundation for their work with children.

Across the team, professional preparation in child development allows educators to understand not only behavior, but the deeper processes of learning, emotional regulation, and motivation. This knowledge translates into structured guidance, age-appropriate expectations, and individualized support.

Children at KeenKind are guided by professionals who combine education, experience, and a thoughtful approach to development — creating a stable environment where intellectual growth and emotional security develop together.

Philosophy

KeenKind’s philosophy is grounded in a systematic vision of child development. Our space is designed as a small school with a clear daily rhythm and thoughtfully structured educational framework, within which children have the freedom to explore, create, and develop mastery.

Our approach is built on a balanced foundation where:

• structure serves as support, not limitation; • emotional regulation is integrated into learning; • movement strengthens thinking and focus; • each child’s individual pace is supported through intentional organization; • play is recognized as a natural pathway to discovery and intellectual growth.

KeenKind is an environment where children learn to think independently, understand and regulate their emotions, collaborate with others, and act confidently in the world.

Location

KeenKind is located in the green residential Pleasant Valley neighborhood of Southeast Portland. The area is very green, quiet, and primarily composed of private homes with minimal vehicle traffic. The program is situated on a small residential street without through traffic, used mainly by local residents. This setting provides a calm and predictable environment that supports focused learning and safe outdoor play.

Public Transportation The nearest public transit option is TriMet Bus Route 86. The closest bus stop is approximately 0.5–0.6 miles from the program. Due to the residential layout of the neighborhood, limited pedestrian infrastructure, and lack of direct walking routes, access to the bus stop on foot is not convenient. Driving is the most practical and comfortable way to reach the program.

About our program

KeenKind is a Ukrainian-English learning space built on a structured approach to child development. Our team brings advanced education and expertise in early childhood and psychology to create a thoughtful, balanced program.

We integrate The Creative Curriculum with our author-designed methodology, combining academic preparation with social-emotional development. Play, projects, and hands-on exploration are organized within a clear system that supports growth without chaos or overload.

Movement is integrated into learning as a tool for thinking, and yoga-based practices support focus, regulation, and body awareness. Children grow in a safe, well-structured environment where balanced meals are prepared on site.

At KeenKind, we build a strong inner foundation — the ability to think independently, regulate emotions, and engage confidently with the world — creating a solid foundation for kindergarten and lifelong learning.
