Hello there! My name is Grasiela Garcia, and I am the founding director of The New Beginnings with Grace Wonderschool. I have almost three decades of time spent working or raising my owns kids, and I originally started my business because I wanted to make sure that my daughter could get the highest quality care possible. Now, I have support from two assistants at all times who help us maintain a low adult:child ratio.

One thing I believe is that giving children a great foundation is so important. You never know who a child can become, and I want them to meet their potential. The next president of the US, smart doctor, or great scholar could be in our program and we have to support them.

At The New Beginnings with Grace Wonderschool, we believe that children’s play comes from being able to observe, watch, and see strong examples! Each interaction that children have with us, with each other, and with the materials that we have chosen for them give us an opportunity to support their growth. As I lead children through activities, I love to demonstrate first and then watch them do it on their own - children are capable of so much!

Our program is located in a secure apartment building in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Manhattan. We are conveniently located around the corner from the A and C lines’ 163rd St station and only a short walk from the 157 St station along the 1 line. Our outdoor play occurs through walks around the neighborhood and at the local park.

Our monthly themes provide guidance for learning and help us follow a curriculum. We love to discuss what’s happening in the world around us at circle time and love to keep children interested!

It is important to us that families stay informed. Whether we’re celebrating a child’s birthday on our wall or sending home photos of our daily activities, we want to keep parents involved.

We believe that early childhood education is a balance of play and learning! As your child explores and chooses different materials or toys, they are also having conversations with us that help them learn about the world around them.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
