My name is Shawn Kerr, I am 48, and I have been a child caregiver for over 25 years. I have 4 children of my own that range in ages from 29 to 7. As a teenager, I was always babysitting for other people, and when I had my first daughter in 1996, I couldn’t bear being away from her. So, I decided to stay home and take on a few more kids, so she had someone to play with and I could have an income to be able to afford to stay home. I continued to stay home throughout all of my own children and I was involved in childcare and early education off and on. In 2017, my youngest son was born and I once again decided it would be best to stay home and open a licensed daycare. This has been so wonderful and rewarding for me and my family. I really enjoy helping other children learn and grow. I have had several trainings on early childhood education, and I continue to go above and beyond what is required in this field.

I am a play-based, family home childcare that strives to help each unique individual child reach their goals at their own pace. I understand that every child learns differently, and I am here to help them succeed. My play-based chilcare is child-initiated, and we build on learning as they play. I plan for all of their development and education needs: cognitive, physical, social, creative and emotional. I help the children feel good about themselves at any stage of learning. This will help build confidence for their future.
