Hello! I am Molly Walsh, the owner, and director of Highland Montessori School. Our school was started by mom in 1982, since then it has always been an incredibly warm and happy place for me. By continuing on her legacy I hope to share with the Highland community all that makes this school so special.

At Highland Montessori School, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.

Highland Montessori School is located in a cozy, charming single family home in the San Mateo Heights neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).
Children will spend about half of their time outdoors in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.
At Highland Montessori School, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.
