Shona Kempter, Hands on Director
Shona Graduated from Pacific Oaks University with a BA in human development specializing in Early Childhood Education. She spent 10 years as a preschool teacher where she developed a love and passion for play-based education. She spent the next 5 years as a therapeutic companion working with older preschoolers in a variety of settings. This experience deepened her understanding of the importance of a relationship-based approach to teaching. Through her teaching experiences she began to have a desire to create a space where child-led, play-based learning was valued and encouraged. She believes in supporting children in their social-emotional development and knows how important that is for happiness and success, both now and in the future!
Filosofía
Our program is all about child led play and meeting each child where they are developmentally. As teachers, our job is to facilitate play, relationships, and learning through varied experiences, lots of exploration, following children’s interests, and creating an engaging environment. The magic that happens when children feel heard, valued, and loved is incredible to witness!
Ubicación
We are centrally located in Culver City close to Mar Vista, MDR, and other westside areas. We are in a great neighborhood, and within walking distance to Culver City schools. We are a short walk from Vets Park and not far from other Culver City parks as well.
