Hello! I am Deshine Tunn-Gonzales, the founder of Learning n Caring Academy Wonderschool. I have been an Early Childhood Educator for over 5 years. I started my career in a Reggio Emilia school. Helping children and their families is the most rewarding position that brings a smile to my face every single day. It is my responsibility to help each child in my care achieve their full potential while building self-confidence. I am able to directly support learning by providing activities and materials that children find engaging. In every interaction, I nurture appropriate growth and development. I decided to venture off from being inside of a classroom and open my own Large Home Child Care because I knew that I could have a greater impact on children in a smaller setting where I could devote more individual focus to every child.

Our Teachers have years of experience working with young children, as well as Early Childhood Education units and they have received their First Aid/CPR certification

At Learning n Caring Academy, we believe that children grow through self-directed activities, hands-on learning, and collaborative play. Children can make creative choices that will strengthen their social skills, teaching them respect for one another and the power in beneficial negotiation. We offer age-appropriate activities and our philosophy helps children with independence and self-discipline. We promote the development of social skills, fine motor, gross motor, emotional growth, physical coordination, and cognitive progression. Academic play is incorporated for children to learn effective problem-solving as they reflect positively about themselves, others and the environment around them!

Learning n Caring Academy Wonderschool is located in a warm, inviting single-family home in the Carson neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), manipulative and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).

We follow a Montessori inspired and play-based approach. Our program activities include: Reading, Science, Arts & Crafts, Gardening, Baking, Yoga, Music, Dance & Movement, Outdoor Activities

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/learning-n-caring-academy-wonderschool-3873/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
